Nail competition in St. Petersburg ♡ Vlog | How to win?

International nail sculpting and design Nail competition Nevskie Berega took place in St. Peterburg, Russian in September 2016.
During 3 days nail technicians compete in 18 competitions and last day is always awards ceremony.
We won 21 trophies and 3 Grand prizes - 1 bronze, 2 silver.
I had competitors of all levels this time - novice, junior and 2 veterans. For three of them it was first competition in their life. I can totally understand and feel their vibes of excitement. First competition for nail technician is always completely terrifying, breathtaking and sometimes heart breaking. But I think it is something that each professional need to experience at least once in their lives.

Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs resist dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. While traditional ikat refers to a dyeing technique, modern ikat, inmainstream fashion terms, is specific form of geometric print that uses decorative triangles and diamonds. Many famous fashion designers used it print for their collections such as Oscar De La Renta, Dries Van Noten, Naeem Khan and Gucci.
I decided to recreate this print in nail design. It turned out to be very easy and fast. It took me 15 minutes to do design on 5 nails. All you need is 3-4 contrast colors, brush with a thin hair and that’s it! Try this simple design and you’ll see how easy and fun it is.

Self taught nail technician vs. Beauty school | Is it possible to learn manicure by yourself?

Is it possible to learn nails by yourself or is it necessary to take a special professional class?
I’ve been on both sides so I can share both experiences with you.
In some countries (the U.S. for example) to get a permission to work as a nail technician you need to get a license. So you need to attend beauty school firsthand. They usually tech basic skills like salon safety, product application, manicure, pedicures.
But what’s next? Clients ask for ombre, chrome nails and nail art.
Is it possible to learn all this nail art techniques by yourself or special class is the fastest and easiest way?
My opinion is that it all depends on a particular person.
Some people are stubborn enough to repeat things over and over until they see the result. But usually taking a special class is a lot easier as educator can see your common mistakes and give you valuable advice on how to avoid them in the future.

What do you guys think?
Did you take any special nail art classes or you've learned everything by yourself?

Nail Tech Social and Premiere Orlando Beauty Show 2016

It is better to see once than to hear a hundred times. This saying is pretty popular in Russia and I agree with it 100%. Especially when it comes to travel and nail art. I can write about how Premiere Orlando and Nail Tech Social were fun and show you nice pictures. But to get a better sense of it let's take a look at my new Vlog.

It was so much fun and while I was editing this video I was like : I want to come back and discover it all again!
Luckily the show and Nail Tech Social are annual. So... Keep my fingers crossed to make it next year too!

It's been a while...

It's been a while since I posted something here last time. That's because I've switched more to the video format. This summer I discovered a totally new format of social message for me - Vlog. Which stands for Video Blog. I personally prefer to read than to watch, but sometimes... When it comes to amazing views and for nail art - come on! It is always better to actually see it than to just read about it.
Anyways, it was kind of excuse for being absent for almost 1,5 years. Wow! Time flies like crazy.
So I apologize. And promise to update my English blog more often.
I will also post from time to time to our new blog at NSIacademy.com
Ok, it's been so long that literally everything changed in my life so it is wiser to start from beginning.

My name is Anastasia Luksha, I am from Moscow, Russia. I am a nail technician since 2004 and educator. In January 2016 my art work was on the cover of Nails Magazine and on March 2016 I was manicurist for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. These were my big goals for the career so I still can hardly believe that it actually happened.
Last month I went to Orlando for NSI Academy and Premiere Orlando Show. It was so much fun and if you want to have a virtual tour with me, let's go!

Thank you for watching and if you feel like you want to follow me, then let's be friends on other social media:
