Starting week long nail marathon in St. Petersburg

I am on my way to Saint Petersburg on a speed train called Sapsan. Unfortunately, wi fi is not working and 3G is really bad here. But it doesn’t mean I have nothing to do. I have many things to do offline like writing articles, choosing new photos, creating new educational programs, organizing schedule or writing this post.

Last week was extremely totally 24-hour busy. Along with our regular trainings in Nail Couture we also trained our students for upcoming championship Nevskie Berega that starts at 25th of September in Saint Petersburg.

Here are some works of our students.

More pictures of our students you can find in our groups on FacebookInstagram

St. Petersburg met me with its traditional grey windy cold rainy weather.

It is evening in now and I look forward to my 7-hour sleep this night. After 2-3-4 hour sleeps during last two weeks it feels like paradise.

Good night!

Interview with Fred Slack inventor of acrylic nails

In February I went to NSI headquarters in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA. Together with Denise Wright, Malinda Haggerty and a team of chemists and engineers Bob Maxwell, Maria Bleam, Jay Martin we worked on developing new NSI products. Some of them you are using in your salon today.
I was still under the impression of working together with Fred Slack, founder of NSI company and inventor of first acrylics. I told him that Russian nail techs heard about this story about dentist who cut his fingernails and then fixed it with filling materials. Peter Slack, one of Fred's sons helped me to organize video shoot with Fred and I couldn't miss this opportunity to ask him for an interview.

Special thanks to Fred slack for interesting answers, Peter Slack for making it happen and Marat for his help with making Russian version of interview.

Enjoy!

Last week I finally found time to translate it and record in Russian too.
If you want to see Russian version, you can find it on our Youtube Channel.

Interview for Czech magazine and my writing challenges

Last year I hosted NSI training in Czech Republic and gave an interview to professional local magazine "Modelazh Nehtu" which means "Sculpting nails".
On the last NSI University in Gdansk, Poland Lenka Garlikova, president of NSI Czech Republic gave me this issue of the magazine. She offered to publish nail tutorials and articles on a regular basis.

Now besides Russian and Ukrainian magazines I will also write for Czech magazine. I enjoy working with magazines especially when I have some freedom to choose the topic.

I always wanted to write articles and publish something since childhood. My first attempt to start writing and my first business experiment was issuing 30 page magazine monthly when I was 10. I used computer with Word to create my first articles. I didn't have any printer so I asked my parents to print it in their office. My first readers were my parent's friend's kids. Some articles were taken from newspapers, some of them I wrote myself. The post popular section was "Real stories". It could be any story and the only rule was that this story happened for real. In my first issue of the magazine I published some story I found in newspaper. It was a story about girl who had a big toy goat. When she was small this toy seemed enormously big. When she grew up the goat appeared to be a small toy for her. But it always reminded her of her childhood. This story gave an impression to my friend's parents, my music teacher and coach. At the end of this section I suggested to my readers to share their stories too. I didn't expect such feedback with just 10 readers! I received around 4-5 stories every month so I had to decide which story will go to the next issue.
That was my first experience in publishing and business. It wasn't very successful revenue wise. Paper and printing were too expensive for me at that time. But it never mattered to me as I enjoyed the process a lot. I didn't notice how time flies when I was planning the new issue, choosing the cover, picking stories. But the best part was getting letters from my readers with positive feedbacks. It was the moment I realized that I was doing something that wasn't just fun for me but it was also useful for other people.

"Fall in love with the process and the results will come". (c)

Doing this blog in English is also something new for me. I am sorry for my English and grammatical errors; I know I still have to learn a lot. But I decided that some of the information I share about Nail industry, NSI, nail competitions would be interesting for you.
Starting to write in English is another big challenge for me and a good way to force myself to study harder.

NSI ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

NSI University Eastern Europe took place at 9-11 of September 2014 in Gdansk.
After we took that pretty photo with all distributors, educators and managers it wasn't over. I was nominated for ALS Ice Bucket Challenge three times already, last time during my visit to Poland by Anna Temchenko from Ukraine.
Grazyna Brylowska, president of NSI Eastern Europe from Poland and Denise Wright, NSI Ambassador from UK were nominated too. We decided to do it in NSI Style.
We put on our NSI rhinestone aprons and in front of all our partners let the waiters pure ice cold water on us.

This is how it looked like:
NSI ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

I thought it is too cold and painful but it wasn't!
Really refreshing!

NSI University Eastern Europe

I am back to this blog now. Bianca Van Eeden inspired me to continue blog in English. Most of our international friends from NSI and anybody who is interested in nail industry cannot read Russian. That’s why I decided to continue blogging. If you can read Russian this is the link to my Russian blog.
Thank you Bianca for being my motivation!

9-11 of September 2014 NSI University Eastern Europe took place in Gdansk, Poland.
Distributors from 14 countries attended this event.
During three days distributors, sales people, and educators had an opportunity to test new NSI products, learn product chemistry and take part in evaluation to get the trophies.

Special guest Fred Slack, founder of NSI Company and inventor of acrylic nails opened the University and explained the process of creating new products. Every Nail Tech could ask any questions and share their ideas with him.
Isabel Fisher, director of international sales from Philadelphia also joined this event.

Denise Wright, UK world champion was hosting the University and shared her experience and techniques in sculpting.
Grazyna Brylowska, president of NSI Eastern Europe organized this event.

I was working as Russian interpreter and hosted the third, Nail art day of NSI University. It was an honor for me to work with Denise Wright and quite a challenge to comment while I show my demo in two languages.

I like working with NSI team and like these events. It is unique opportunity to meet with your colleagues around the world and share some experience, ideas and receive a shot of motivation.
My favorite part about NSI is that while being a worldwide top nail company they can always stay foolish.

Love you all!
